I never thought that this would be the United States that we live in. Jerry Falwell descended from Helen Beasley in Lynchburg, VA. Her sister was my great-grandmother. I am a graduate of Liberty University, a descendant of an original member of the 16 that met at Donald Duck Bottling Company that eventually became Thomas Road Baptist Church, which then created Liberty University.

Somehow, everyone was all for free speech and discussion and funding in higher education while they were in the minority. That has changed, and suddenly it’s about repression of thought, concepts, and conversation.

What has happened to discussion and compromise?

I encourage you to support free thought and places where we can discuss and disagree.

Thank You Harvard for Refusing to Bow to Political Pressure

When a former president tried to strong-arm universities into silence and submission, Harvard stood its ground.

I admire Harvard. They upheld academic freedom, free speech, and the right to self-govern as an institution of higher learning.

In a time when too many institutions have bent the knee to political threats, Harvard’s refusal to comply is more than admirable — it’s essential. This fundraiser is not my way of giving money to Ivy League elitists. It's my way of saying thank you for refusing to let a bully dictate what you teach, who you hire, or who you admit.

Harvard is, yes, well-funded. They've got endowments. They're not going away. But turning down $2 billion is still a hit. Most institutions buckle.

I logged into GoFundMe today, looking to find a related Harvard fundraiser I could support to show my solidarity, but I started one myself.
