The Tybee Island Lighthouse needs your help!
During a routine assessment this past winter it was determined that Tybee's historic 1773 lighthouse is in need of immediate preservation. The windows around the irreplaceable Fresnel lens, the roof, and masonry all need essential repairs. Right now, the building is stable, but if we don't fix these problems soon, things could become dire.
To tackle this issue, ICC Commonwealth will start a 6-month restoration project in November. However, it's going to cost a lot—the current working estimate is $1.6 million—for these necessary repairs. We can't handle this financial burden alone, and we're asking for your help.
Please consider supporting the Tybee Island Historical Society and the Tybee Island Lighthouse with any amount you can give. Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a big difference in preserving the history of the beloved lighthouse.
The private non-profit Tybee Island Historical Society owns and operates the Tybee Island Light Station & Museum.
