"In riding a horse, we borrow freedom." ~ Helen Thompson
From the beginning of time, a special bond has existed between horses and humans ~ A bond that cannot always be understood, only experienced.
Here at Unicorn Therapeutic Riding, our goal is to provide that sense of "freedom" for children who possess a wide range of physical, cognitive, and social/emotional disabilities through equine-assisted activities and therapy. For over 30 years, through the kind, patient, and non-judgmental assistance of our special horses and volunteers, our students learn riding, horsemanship, and life skills through instruction and interaction with their equine and human best friends.
Our program has continued to grow and, in an effort to accommodate our families during their time with us, we are now looking to add a much-needed ADA-compliant and handicapped accessible restroom to our barn that will not only provide greater comfort for our current students but also allow us to expand our services to a broader range of students, including those who are wheelchair-bound. We hope to be able to complete this project before the winter weather arrives so we can continue to offer lessons year-round (our current port-a-potty loses its appeal when the temperature drops!).
If you could kindly help us by donating any amount to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment, our students would be so grateful. And our horses say thank you, too!
