United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey is YOUR United Way, so when we think about the best community partners, of course we think of your world champion Philadelphia Eagles and our very good friend, Chris Long.

Join us as we get off the sidelines and make sure all kids in our region can learn to read!

United Way first teamed up with Chris Long this past September when he committed to donating a quarter of his salary to support “First Quarter for Literacy”, a campaign to seed at-home libraries and provides literacy-building tips for parents of young children living in under-served neighborhoods in our region.

United Way is launching “Second Quarter for Literacy” as a way to sustain Chris Long’s exemplary commitment to ensuring kids pivot from learning to read to reading to learn.

We know that if kids are unable to read on grade level by 3rd grade, they are 4 times more likely to drop out of high school. If they are living in poverty, the chances are even greater – 6 times more likely.

But by supporting this campaign, you are supporting the most effective nonprofit partners in our region working on the most proven, measurable, and innovative interventions available to tackle early learning.

Join us to:

- Launch an interactive web-based tutoring program for grades 1-3
- Expand the regional grade level reading campaign
- Prepare kids and caregivers for school success

Let’s make sure all of our region’s kids have what they need to make it to graduation!

All donations from this campaign will be directed to United Way’s Early Grade Reading initiatives.
