United Yorkie Rescue needs your desperately! Precious Winston is only 20 months old and weighs only 5lbs. He came into rescue with a trachea issue and today he literally passed out and collapsed 3 times before reaching the vet.  He has been intubated and will need emergency life saving full trachea stent repair to save his life. His critical care this weekend will run the rescue around 2k. But that's not all.   He will have to undergo a surgery Monday with the specialty surgeon for measurements to have his stent made then hopefully by Friday his stent will come for immediate surgery. This will entail another full week of critical care, the costs of which we do not know, however we do know the surgical repair  will run approximately 5K. He is truly an amazing little fighter.  It breaks your heart to see and hear little Winston because this precious baby wants so badly to just run with his siblings and he just can't. Please help us save his life.  This is a lot for our charitable organization, as we have many with health issues. Meet Kappie,  a tiny three pound, 6-year-old girl who is in urgent need of costly yet life-saving care.  Her current need is for nuclear testing, then depending on results Kappie is also likely to require specialized surgery to repair a likely liver shunt.  Kappie was found on the streets by a good Samaritan who took her to a vet to be scanned for a chip but sadly none was found and we feel it is likely she may have been discarded due to her illness.  She was in rough shape.....emaciated, flea infested, missing hair and had long nails that curved into her pads. A very kind veterinary technician and her family took Kappie in and gave her a temporary home where they gave her much care, a safe place to live and did all they could to restore her health  but after a couple of months it was apparent that Kappie needed more care than one person or family could provide.   In the short two months she was in their home, she was treated for two urinary tract infections,  recovered from her flea infestation, gained weight and was spayed.  During the spay surgery the vet discovered that Kappie had multiple bladder stones. They were removed and sent off to the lab for analysis. Sadly, her type of stones were not normal and proved to be the type that are commonly found in dogs with liver shunt.   It became clear that Kappie would need a village to help her and she was surrendered to UYR.  Since coming into rescue, we have had further testing done including multiple chemistry panels and bile acid testing that is specific to indicate the likely presence of a liver shunt.    These results indicated that a more detailed nuclear scan is needed to confirm the type of shunt as well as the damage that it may have caused and to find out if surgical repair is an option for Kappie.   In the meantime, we have started her on life-saving medications to bind the toxins that a healthy liver does on its own as well as a special drug to kill bacteria that fails to filter through the liver.  Kappie is sweet, loving dog who loves to play and has a lot of life left to live! Liver shunt surgery and the hospital after care costs in the thousands of dollars. 5-23-20 Sweet Toby came to us in April and we soon learned he had a bladder stone as well as a UTI. We had his fundraiser set up to collect for that surgery and in early May Toby was adopted out to a wonderful new family.  At his 3 week checkup vet appointment, Toby's owner learned that his liver values were off and upon further testing, bile acids were high. We now know this baby most likely has a portal liver shunt. Unable to handle this condition after a job loss, we have taken Toby back into rescue. He was immediately taken to the vet to start proper medication which binds the toxins that are not being filtered through his malfunctioning liver, and we will now proceed with confirming this shunt through a nuclear scintigraphy with surgery to follow. This testing and surgery is extremely expensive and can run upwards of $6k to $8k. We need your help please! We have recently rescued quite a few with unique medical needs, but even with the state the world is in, rescue needs to continue.  Please help us as you did before with Toby's special needs.

UNITED YORKIE RESCUE Christmas angels, we need your help! This precious 6lb, 8yr old baby girl was found abandoned in California approximately a month ago. Her finder did everything to reunite her with her chipped owner however, the owner stated she gave her away years ago and wanted no part of her any longer. Her loving finder knew she desperately needed medical attention by the looks of her horrific bleeding mouth full of dental disease, and made the choice to get her the best and reached out to us. 

Molly Noelle came into rescue and was immediately taken to University Veterinary Center for her urgent care. To determine all that was wrong with this baby, we opted for x-rays as well as blood work. The horror comes when looking at her x-rays. Imbedded inside Molly's intestine is a rock, a rock the size of a large lemon! The vets are in awe as to how this could even get inside and down this precious baby's throat. What we have is a medical emergency for this sweet angel, as she is at risk for an ischemic bowel since we don't know how much blood is flowing to her intestines. We are looking at a very expensive procedure of at least $2700 plus which does not include extended hospital stay or even addressing her painful dental issues. Marley Belle is a tiny, 4-month old puppy who should be chasing balls and getting into mischief but instead she is in the fight of her life tonight.   She was surrendered to us only yesterday with a suspected liver shunt.   She was sick upon intake, but in only hours she went from ill to critical and was rushed  to an emergency and specialty care veterinary center in Nashville, TN after becoming lethargic and unresponsive.   She made it through the night but today she continues to have unstable blood sugar and blood pressure.   But Marley is a fighter and so are we so right now we are putting out the call to every one of our supporters and asking for you to join us in our fight to save Marley’s life.   Marley has a suspected liver shunt and if we are able to stabilize her, she will need corrective surgery to repair this life threatening condition.  But right now at this very moment Marley needs emergency supportive care to give her any chance and this type of care is extremely expensive to provide.   She remains in critical care tonight and we are praying she will turn the corner soon.   Please join Marley in her fight to survive by making a donation towards her care and sharing her story.  Thank You from the bottom of her mighty, puppy heart and ours.

Want to make a difference in the lives of 4 former puppy mill dogs?  UYR volunteers were made aware of a puppy mill situation and worked with concerned individuals to get these four dogs to safety.  At this point we are not able to provide details on location, etc. in order to protect these pups who are in horrific shape.  All the females have mammary tumors and have had puppies recently.  All four have severe dental decay so bad that two of them have pus literally dripping from their mouths.  All have severe matting and skin diseases and one is missing an eye.  One female was immediately diagnosed with pyometria, a life threatening condition involving infection of the uterus which requires immediate surgery and that is happening now.  The Veterinary costs for this group will be large and are already mounting.  Can you help us?
