3D Printers for UCAS
Utah County Academy of Sciences is excited to be the first high school in the state of Utah to offer our students concurrent enrollment for EGDT 1050 - Introduction to 3D Printing. This course will be offered to our 9th grade students in conjunction with their Exploring Computer Science course during the Spring 2019 Semester. This course is a critical starting point for Engineering Graphics and Design Technology courses.
In order to offer this course, we must have 3D printers on sight that are capable of meeting the curriculum demands. When we first started this campaign, we were approached by ReliaBuild 3D with the generous donation of a 5050 ReliaBuild 3D BIG Next Generation Printer. This is a model that we were unfamiliar with at the time and have since had the opportunity to learn more about the printer and this incredible Utah Based company. We would like to purchase two more of these printers along with dual extruder heads, Z height upgrades, and filament to support the printing that will be done by the students throughout the course. The money raised from this campaign will be used to acquire these printers and supplies.
Having 3D printers available will provide opportunities for students in all grades to explore this exciting technology and to engage in the process of problem solving and prototyping. We are hoping to fund this project by mid-December so that the printers can be ordered and in place to begin the Spring Semester in January.
We sincerely appreciate any support we receive in providing these essential curriculum tools for our students. If you are able to contribute to our cause, please remember that any donations are tax deductible and would make a wonderful Holiday gift for all of the students who attend UCAS.
