Perez Family recovery
The VCFD WOAF provides aid to all VCFD Personnel and their dependents who are ill, injured or the victims of unforeseen circumstances that have drastically altered their normal way of life.
Our single greatest mission is to be prepared to provide whatever assistance is needed to family members in the event of a firefighter line of duty death or catastrophic injury, such as the Perez family. Please read a bit about their story and consider supporting the WOAF.

This is Felice and Jesus' story in "Chuy's" own words:
Asking for all of my prayer warriors. 1 year ago my wife's health took an unexpected turn. She was hospitalized with symptoms that no one had answers for. She did so many scans, blood work and treatments and nothing helped. After being misdiagnosed over and over and given medications that were unnecessary she was still stuck weak and in so much pain. Every Dr. told her she's just an exhausted mom see ya in 6 weeks. I knew something was terribly wrong. She begged and fought so hard with my insurance to get her to the right type of Dr for her symptoms. Finally in April she was able to see a gastroenterologist. He immediately told her she is very very sick. He told me to check her into simi hospital that same day and he would get her transferred to USC. She was at USC for a week after Easter and they finally were able to diagnose her. End stage liver disease called NAFLD which basically means liver disease for no reason. She has done so many procedures, weekly labs, scans and switched medications over and over. Nothing helped. Her only chance at survival was a liver transplant. After fighting once again we were finally put on a transplant list but I was told it could take up to 3 years to find a deceased liver that matched hers. I didn't have that time. Her other option was to find a living donor. So I did what any other husband would do and volunteered to do tests and scans to see if in any way my liver would be a match. By the glory of god WE matched!! We found the most wonderful transplant team at USC and we are here today to fix this young lady. We owe all of this to God who has pulled us from the darkest year of our lives. Please pray for us for a successful surgery and recovery. Our kids have been great through all of this but we know they are struggling. If you see them around please give them some extra love and hugs. The USC motto has never felt so true... FIGHT ON!! We got this babe.
They are both recovering from surgery and fighting to stay strong for their young family. All money collected by the VCFD WOAF for this GoFundMe will go directly to the Perez family.
