Organized by Richmond Mountain Trails
Best Day Ever Film Fundraiser
After three years of work, 5000 hours of volunteer time, and $270,000 of fundraising, Richmond Mountain Trails opened the Driving Range, the first fully adaptive trail network in the U.S.
Now we’re making a movie about the project, Best Day Ever, to showcase the power of adaptive trails and to inspire viewers to build adaptive infrastructure in their communities.
Best Day Ever is a case study and a road map for universal trails. It’s a humanizing story of the power of inclusive recreation. It will inspire viewers to consider constructing more inclusive, diverse, and equitable outdoor recreational spaces in their communities. The movie challenges misconceptions about the abilities of adaptive athletes while acknowledging the difficulties people with spinal cord injuries face in other aspects of their lives. We document the power of building trails so that people with disabilities can return to the activities they love and discover new passions. We show the impact of a place where riders with disabilities and able-bodied riders can recreate on common ground.
We are fundraising to complete this film in spring 2025. We’re proud to be working with Oscar-Nominated filmmaker Ben Knight, who has won more than 70 film festival awards, as our co-director and editor.
You can read more about the film here, and please sign up for our Best Day Ever mailing list. We sincerely appreciate your financial support.
