Restore Veterans' Photos: Honor Their Legacy
Calling all photoshoppers, digital artists and the like!
This fundraiser is not intended for monetary donations. Yes, money helps but what our Veteran population needs is our time and recognition. If you are like me and don't know the first
thing about photoshop, there is a link for charitable contribution on the GFM page.
I will make the first donation in honor of my friend and two time war Veteran, also one of my favorites - Earl. I will donate the cash amount of some variation of his lucky lotto numbers. Don't worry! Earl is alive and well! I see him and his son, Dorsey, frequently. I've learned in my talks with the guys that Korean War Veterans are rightfully proud people, despite the fact that the war was largely disregarded as a war. Our Vietnam Veterans, who were blamed for the conflict, despite being drafted at a tender young age- deserve some recognition.
One of the most exciting things for a Veteran to share with you is their military photos and experiences.
The goal of this fundraiser is to restore damaged or faded photographs to their original glory.
I will collect the photo myself and upload it to the GFM updates page. All you need to do is choose one, do your magic, and send it back to me. Please please include a message to the Veteran! They love it. I am going to post before and after photos and a then and now photo when the photo is ready.
This fundraiser is in no way about me, it is about the Veterans who risks their lives and came out the other side with a photo that speaks a thousand words.
For some reassurance that I am not collecting these photos for some ill intent like making a wrap for my car or wallpapering my kitchen with photos of Veterans, here is a blip about me.
I am a 38yo nurse living in Chester County PA. I am the Director of Nursing for a small home healthcare company, a company I am very proud to work for. My grandfather was a Vet but didn't say much about it, as I recall. My passion arose for the Veterans and their cause because I worked across from a VA Hospital. I took special time with my Veterans to show gratitude, concern, and truly advocate. I do this today. I am almost certain my photo is prominently displayed in the VAMC near me, somewhere. Not because they love seeing me.
Please consider sharing or helping or both.
It is worth it, I promise.
