Giving Back to Homeless Veterans
In time, VOTR expanded and broadened its services to provide additional housing and holistic support for homeless veterans and those transitioning out of military service. The holistic support consists of medical support through the VA Medical Center, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, individual professional counseling, training in life skills and financial management, assistance in finding job training and employment opportunities, and help in finding alternative safe and affordable housing when they are discharged from VOTR. Each year, VOTR serves more than 150 homeless veterans and nearly 70% of those served go on to find improved and stable housing after they've been discharged from VOTR programs.
VOTR has spent the last 20 years working to improve the quality of life for veterans and giving them a leg up in life when there was nowhere else to turn, but over the last two decades VOTR has operated with the same facilities since the beginning. VOTR is asking for help on raising funds for improving their facilities. Most of the funding will go towards refurbishing the VOTR kitchen, which is used to provide meals for the many individuals involved in the programs that VOTR offers. Improving their facilities will allow VOTR to continue helping and improving the lives of homeless veterans as the organization continues to expand.
