Chút quà cho Anh - Xuân 2021

Dear Distinguished Patrons,

It has been forty-five years since the Vietnam War ended To the younger generations, perhaps the war is merely another chapter in their history book. But for the disabled Vietnamese veterans of the Republic of South Vietnam, each day is a reminder of the costly price that they had paid when they set their lives aside and rose to their country’s calling. They are not hailed as heroes. They live in isolation, casted aside as being invisible and mistreated by the communist government. They live in crowded group homes under dehumanizing conditions and overwhelmed by illnesses of maturity in addition to their wounds of war.

We, Vietnamese, who live abroad do not forget the disabled military men and women who were left behind. We do not forget the sacrifices they made to protect our freedom, or the lives and limbs they lost as a consequence. We do not forget their imprisonment, torture and forced harsh manual labor in “re-education camps” under regime of The Socialist Republic of Vietnam.And we do not forget their constant sufferings, humiliations and inability to care for themselves because of their courageous actions.

Once again, the Vietnamese-American Community of Massachusetts will join the Redemptorist in Can Gio, Vietnam to express our gratitude to support the Veterans of South Vietnam on the occasion of the New Year 2021. Your contributions will bring warmth and a happy New Year to all Veterans, and also show our gratitude for the incredible sacrifices they have made on our behalf. More importantly, we want to give them the opportunity to live out their lives with true dignity and be comforted knowing they are honored and loved.


Thank you for giving back to our brothers and sisters the honor and dignity they deserve.

Chút quà cho anh 

 
Kính thưa những nhà hảo tâm, Thấm thoắt đã 45 năm kể từ khi chiến tranh Việt Nam kết thúc. Chúng ta là những thế hệ trẻ có lẽ chiến tranh chỉ đơn thuần là một trang sử. Nhưng đối với những thương phế binh Việt Nam Cộng Hoà thì mỗi ngày trôi qua là một điều nhắc nhở họ tới cái giá mà họ đã trả khi họ gạt bỏ cuộc sống riêng tư qua một bên để nghe theo tiếng gọi của đất nước. Họ không được vinh danh là những anh hùng dân tộc. Họ phải sống cô lập và bị chế độ Cộng Sản bỏ quên và ngược đãi. Họ sống trong những căn nhà tồi tàn và hàng ngày phải đương đầu với bệnh tật và những thương tích do chiến tranh để lại. 

Chúng ta là những người Việt Nam sống ở Hải ngoại không quên những thương phế binh đã bị bỏ rơi này. Chúng ta không quên những cống hiến một phần xương máu của họ để bảo vệ cuộc sống và tự do của chúng ta. Và chúng ta không thể quên những hành động can đảm của họ đã gây ra những tổn thương liên tiếp mà họ phải gánh chịu hàng ngày khiến họ không thể tự chăm sóc cho bản thân. 


Một lần nữa, chúng ta cùng chung tay với quý cha Dòng Chúa Cứu Thế Cần Giờ để tri ân quý TPB VNCH nhân dịp trao quà Xuân 2021. Những sự chia sẻ của quý vị sẽ mang lại những hơi ấm mùa xuân cho quý TPB và cũng là sự biểu lộ tấm lòng tri ân của chúng ta về những hy sinh mà quý TPB đã dành cho chúng ta. Điều quan trọng hơn cả là chúng ta muốn họ được sống đúng với phẩm giá đích thực của mình trong quãng đời còn lại và họ được tôn trọng và yêu thương. 

 
Xin cảm tạ những giúp đỡ của quý vị tới những vị anh hùng thương phế binh Việt Nam Cộng Hoà.

CHÚT QUÀ CHO ANH THƯƠNG PHẾ BINH VNCH

Sau khi Việt Cộng cưỡng chiếm miền Nam VN, những người cựu quân nhân cán chính từng phục vụ cho chính phủ VNCH đã bị tập trung vào các trại tù lao động khổ sai để "đền nợ máu nhân dân" và "học tập cải tạo" như lời của Việt Cộng tuyên truyền.  Nhưng trên thực tế thì họ đã bị trả thù bằng những trận đòn roi, những cơn đói, lạnh, bệnh tật khổ sở hành hạ từng ngày và không thấy tương lai ngày về.  Còn những người thương phế binh VNCH (tpb vnch) thì đã bị đuổi ngay ra khỏi những quân y viện và kể từ đó họ phải lăn lóc mưu sinh bằng nhiều phương thức.  Một trong những "nghề" mà người ta thường thấy là hình ảnh của những người TPB/VNCH mặc áo lính rằn ri ngày xưa đàn hát để bán vé số kiếm sống qua ngày.  Đã 43 năm trôi qua và số lượng những người TPB VNCH đã rơi rụng theo thời gian vì tuổi già, sức yếu, bệnh tật và nghèo đói. 

Những người Việt sống lưu vong tại hải ngoại vẫn không bao giờ quên những người thương phế binh VNCH đáng thương lẫn đáng kính trọng này bởi vì họ đã hy sinh một phần thân thể của mình để bảo vệ cho nền tự do, dân chủ thật sự cho miền Nam Việt Nam.   Do vậy, một lần nữa, Tổ chức Cộng Đồng Việt Nam tại Massachusetts lại đứng ra thành lập một ban tổ chức bao gồm nhiều các hội đoàn và thiện nguyện viên để thực hiện kỳ gây quỹ "Chút Quà Cho Anh" lần thứ 2, để yểm trợ cho những người thương phế binh VNCH tại Việt Nam với chủ đề "Hát Cho Người Thương Binh".  Số tiền gây quỹ được chỉ là chút quà nhỏ thể hiện tấm lòng tri ân của đồng bào hải ngoại đến những người thương phế binh VNCH và sẽ được chuyển thẳng đến cho nhà thờ Dòng Chúa Cứu Thế tại Saigon Việt Nam để họ chi dùng toàn bộ số tiền này vào việc giúp đỡ cho những TPB VNCH. Dòng Chúa Cứu Thế là nơi đã và vẫn đang có những công tác phục vụ thiết thực và trực tiếp đến đời sống và tinh thần của những người TPB VNCH như cấp phát xe lăn, xe lắt, khám bệnh, tổ chức hội ngộ và hát tri ân những người lính VNCH đến từ khắp mọi nơi.

Chúng tôi những mong quý đồng hương sẽ mở lòng ra ủng hộ giúp mang lại nụ cười trong tim những người thương phế binh VNCH bởi vì họ biết rằng họ không bị bỏ quên.  Xin chân thành cám ơn sự ủng hộ và đóng góp của tất cả quý vị!

A TINY GIFT FOR OUR BELOVED SOUTH VIETNAM DISABLED VETERANS

After Saigon falls, all of those who served in the Republic of South Vietnam government and military were captured and imprisoned in hard labor camps by the Vietnamese communist.  They were supposedly to "repay all the bloody debt to their people" and "to be re-educated" according to what Vietnamese communist preached in their media propaganda.  In reality, those people were physically tortured, forced to do hard labor with growling stomachs in harsh weather conditions.  As a result, many of them died of hunger, untreated illnesses and tortures.   As for the disabled veterans, they were thrown out of the hospital immediately.  Many of them ended up with "career" such as selling lottery tickets on the street for a living.  43 years has passed and most of them died due to old ages, illness and in poverty. 

The Vietnamese people who lives overseas never forget those unfortunate yet highly respected lives.  Because these disabled veterans sacrificed part of their body to defend the freedom and democracy for the Republic of South Vietnam.  Therefore, once again, the Vietnamese American Community of Massachusetts organized a fund raising committee with a theme called "A Tiny Gift for You" as a small token of appreciation and this fund will be sent directly to Dòng Chúa Cứu Thế Church in Saigon, Vietnam.  This  church has been giving cares to these disabled vets such as taking them for overall health examination, providing wheel chairs, organizing gathering for reunification and appreciation for their sacrifices and services.  They also help the disabled vets with bus fares since many of them comes from different areas that takes a long ride to get there. 

We hope you will open your heart to support to brighten the heart of our beloved disabled veterans knowing they are not forgotten.  Thank you very much for your support and donation!

Once again, the Vietnamese-American Community of Massachusetts comes together to support these unsung heroes, to remind them they are not forgotten and to thank them in some small way for the incredible sacrifices they have made on our behalf. More importantly, we want to give them the opportunity to live out their lives with dignity, and be comforted knowing they are honored and loved.
