Jim Wise Memorial Fund for Veterans
Jim Wise, my father and hero died today. He was a strong, brave, honest, hard-working, loving man. A family man. And, an army man who loved his country--a patriot through and through.
He taught me to appreciate freedom -- to never take it for granted -- and to honor those who offered their lives for us to be able have it, and hold on to it.
The only time I saw my dad cry was twice a year -- on Veteran's Day and Memorial Day.
He would salute any military man or woman in uniform--up to his dying day. He could barely stand on his leg that was filled with cancer -- yet he would get himself out of his wheelchair to stand and salute.
And, it was a house full of veterans who came by to give him am honorable fairwell.
In honor of my father, I would like to raise $3500 to save the life of at least one veteran who is struggling with suicide. It's tragic that those who protect our freedom often suffer so greatly that they feel their only way out is to take their own life.
My father will be smiling from heaven to know what we've done in his honor. I only wish I'd thought of this while he was still alive so that he could know what a difference he's made in the lives of so many others.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
