Donate to Restore Hope to Displaced Families
Dear Wabii Maccaa Association Supporters,

Over the past six years, we have faced significant challenges in Oromia, particularly in the four Zones of Wallaggaa. These regions, central to the ongoing conflict, have experienced disruption in essential services such as healthcare, agriculture, and commerce. Consequently, we have seen farms abandoned, healthcare facilities damaged, and many residents forced to flee in search of safer conditions. This prolonged crisis has led to tragic loss of life and livelihoods, creating an increasingly complex environment.

Determining the exact number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Oromia region has proven challenging. However, according to available data among the 1.4 million IDPs across 141 camps in the Oromia region, approximately over 750,000 individuals are located in the four zones of Western Oromia. In addition, a report from the Health Cluster Ethiopia highlighted a significant health concern in the region, indicating over 2.1 million reported malaria cases in Wallagga by the fall of 2024.

Despite these hardships, it’s important to remember that Wallaggaa has historically been resource-rich. Unfortunately, the current situation has left many in urgent need of support. In response, the Wabii Maccaa Association (WMA) has dedicated itself to improving the lives of our community by actively deploying resources and collaborating with partners on the ground. Over the last four years, WMA has responded to emerging needs in Wallaggaa and across Oromia, providing emergency assistance, educational opportunities for underserved children, and support for families to restore their livelihoods.

Seeing the extensive needs of our community, the Wabii Maccaa Association is launching a major global fundraising initiative to restore hope and rebuild the lives of displaced children, women, and families in Wallaggaa. This event aims to unite Oromos in the diaspora who have been expressing concerns about the well-being of our community, expressing compassion and empathy alongside friends, organizations, businesses, and supporters in solidarity with our people. The necessity for support is great—countless children are in need of care, families require assistance, and many are affected by famine and disease. Your contributions will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.

Save the Starving Children in Wallaggaa, Oromia

Fundraising campaign to save the lives in Wallaggaa, Oromia ,Ethiopia

As various news outlets have been reporting there has been a crisis in West Wallaggaa zone (Begii,and Qondala districts), and Qellem Wallaggaa Zone (Gidaamii, Sayyoo and Anfilloo districts) . These crisis has been simmering for years now. Among others, these districts serve as the epicenter of the armed conflict within Wallaggaa, which endured five years of rule under a command post. This period has severely disrupted agricultural and business activities, leaving the people of Wallaggaa struggling to farm adequately and significantly curtailing commercial businesses. The current famine crisis, unfortunately, was not only predictable but also, regrettably, inevitable. Adding to the complexity of this crisis is the outbreak of malaria and cholera in this region, leading to immense suffering and loss of lives. It is disheartening to acknowledge that this crisis is largely a result of human actions.

Considering the situation, it is crucial to ponder what can be done to alleviate this crisis.

Wabii Maccaa Association is actively working together with our partners on the ground to

provide assistance to communities in the affected districts. The needs are enormous, but our

resources are limited. Even with the resources at our disposal, delivering aid presents

significant challenges primarily due to safety and security concerns.

We urge all Oromo organizations to come and unite their members in providing support to the

people of Wallagaa during this critical time. The situation is dire and countless lives are at risk

due to both famine and disease. Even though Wallaggaa historically has never relied on food

aid the current circumstances have left them in need. We implore all Oromos worldwide to

respond and offer their assistance.

Additionally, we call upon the international community, NGOs, and government agencies to

extend their help to the affected victims of famine and disease in Wallaggaa, thereby

preserving precious lives from a looming humanitarian catastrophe. The demand for

humanitarian assistance is vast, and without it, a looming humanitarian disaster

is on the horizon.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation for your unwavering support for those

suffering from hunger and disease, as well as your profound concern and

steadfast commitment to alleviating the hardships endured by our fellow

community members in Wallaggaa.

FUNDRISING FOR DISPLACED OROMO IN WALLAGAA

Dear Wabii Maccaa Association supporters,

As you prepare to celebrate the upcoming holidays with your families and friends, we ask you to remember our people in Oromia who are suffering from a lack of basic needs in life such as food and shelter because they are on the run for their lives.

Killings of innocent Oromo civilians, burning of people alive, burning of houses in entire towns, and destruction of properties and cattle are some of the horrific disasters these people are facing. The agony that our people in Horroo Guduruu and East Wallaggaa are experiencing is simply unbearable. This tragedy continues to mount daily.

About half a million people are internally displaced in these 2 Wallaggaa zones alone. An entire district of Kiiramu residents fled to the neighboring Giddaa Ayyaanaa to save their lives. The residents of Giddaa Ayyaanaa, whom themselves are living in fear of the terrorist activities of the Fano, are overwhelmed trying to host the Internally Displaced People (IDP) from Kiiramu. The security situation in the area is nonexistent and innocent civilians are hunted like wild animals.

Wabii Maccaa Association is vowing to stand with the suffering people of Horroo Guduruu and East Wallaggaa. We are doing everything we can to help the survivors. To provide much-needed assistance we depend on the kind heart and generosity of our members and supporters like you.

We are planning an emergency virtual global fundraising event on Saturday, December 24, 2022. We appeal to all our members, supporters, and all Oromos around the world to participate and donate generously to this worthy cause. Our ability to provide life-saving assistance and the survival of many of our people literally depends on your generosity. Let us come together and stand with our people who are suffering during this holiday season when the rest of the world is in festivities. Fundraising for the Agamsa Massacre Victims

On the morning of August 30, 2022, the residents of the Agamsa town, in the Amuru District of Horroo Guduruu Wallaggaa, Oromia, Ethiopia woke up to gunfire. In the following 2 days, over one hundred people were randomly shot and murdered, corpses laying on the streets, and hundreds more were wounded and left without any medical attention. Survivors fled into the woods and corn fields to hide from the perpetrators, the Amhara extremists Fano that crossed the border to commit these heinous acts. Houses were burned to the ground and properties destroyed indiscriminately. This shocking vicious atrocity left thousands with no food, home, or property and left them internally displaced in their own town.

We at Wabii Maccaa Association have decided to stand with the victims of this atrocious massacre and initiated this fundraising effort to help in their long road to recovery. We call on all whose consciences are shocked by this savagery to stand with the victims to donate to help as many of them as possible to recover from these tragic losses. The funds raised here will benefit specifically the internally displaced victims of the Agamsa massacre. Thank you for your generosity.

Fundraising for Displaced Oromos in Wallaggaa
EMERGENCY FUNDRAISING FOR THE DISPLACED OROMOS IN WALLAGGAA

The Oromos of Wallaggaa have been continuously living under a restrictive command post for almost 4 years. Under these conditions, the economy has suffered because of limited and restricted transportation systems. Sporadic availability of communication systems such as telephone and internet services isolated the zone from the rest of the world. Inadequate farming products because of the fear of working in the fields is exposing the population to severe starvation. Normal daily life remained a thing of the past.

The civil war in Ethiopia, particularly in the Oromia region, has made the lives of so many Oromos unbearably difficult. The recently heightened conflicts have created an unimaginable humanitarian crisis. An immense and tragic human toll is developing for those affected. Armed Amhara extremists have crossed the borders into the Horo Guduru and East Wallaggaa zones and killed hundreds of innocent civilian Oromos. They have burned down hundreds of homes to the ground. Thousands of Oromos have been internally displaced and are suffering immensely due to a lack of food and shelter. Lately, these humanitarian crises have been expanding into other regions of Oromia.

Wabii Maccaa Association (WMA) is currently conducting an emergency global fundraising event for the benefit of the internally displaced and suffering fellow Oromos in Wallaggaa. We intend to provide much-needed urgent assistance. The board of directors of WMA kindly invites you to participate in this noble effort. Dear friends,

Over the past three years, hundreds of thousands have become victims of humanitarian crisis in western, eastern and southern parts of Ethiopia particularly in Oromia. Over 100,000 Oromo have been displaced in Benishangul-Gumuz in 2018. Recent evidences verify that more than 37,000 persons are re-displaced and still need food, shelter, and other basic non-food items from 64,594 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who were returned to Kamashi and Assosa zones of Benishangul Gumuz region (BGR) from West Wallaggaa zone of Oromia region.

Many Oromo civilians have been targeted and become victims of mass killing and displacement for the last three years. As a result, thousands of Oromo residents continued to experience displacement from their homes and need immediate humanitarian assistance. Wabii Maccaa Association (WMA), a charitable non-profit humanitarian organization was founded by concerned diaspora to respond to such needs of vulnerable families and persons in these areas.

In May 2020, thankful to our donors around the world, Wabii Maccaa Association run successfully its first fund-raising campaign.
