• Ensure PetroPeru Takes Full Responsibility: Help our community secure resources to ensure that the oil company takes full responsibility for our town's economic and environmental damages (legal expert fees, monitoring and evidence collection, etc.)

• Boat Repairs and Gear Replacement for Storm-Affected Fishing Families: At least 16 fishermen's boat have sunk and many have lost essential artisanal gear, for example, fishing nets [50 SOLES / 13.36 USD], rope [150 SOLES per 5 kilo / 40.01 USD per 5 kilos], anchor [50 SOLES / 13.36 USD], sail [70 SOLES / 18.69 USD], paddles [50 SOLES / 13.36 USD], motors [15,000 SOLES / 4,010 USD], hull of boat [20,000 SOLES / 5,341 USD]). Donations will go to support fishing families in restoring their livelihoods.

Dear Friends and Family,

I'm raising money to benefit WAVES for Development International.

As the last part of my gap year, I will be traveling to Lobitos, a small village on the northern coast of Peru, to join WAVES for Development, a non-profit that works to serve local communities and inspire cultural exchange through surf experiences. 

WAVES empowers the youth in the community to pursue education, set career goals and live healthy lives. I will be volunteering at the local school as an assistant teaching English, art and physical education classes for primary school kids ages 7-12.  On weekends, I will assist in teaching environmental conservation and give surf lessons!

WAVES for Development exists entirely on donations and part of my responsibility as a volunteer is to help raise money for the organization. 100% of the money I raise with your help goes directly to expenses related to the WAVES programs in the community, including educational supplies, building materials, maintenance of their surf and sports equipment, support of the staff on site, and contributions to the homestay families.

This is an awesome non-profit and education is a cause I believe in.  I hope you will be a part of this experience and donate to WAVES.  Any contribution large or small will be greatly appreciated!
