The Ellen Toy grass court at Kennedy Park
We put coaches hitting boxes in the gyms at Kiski Area and Leechburg to help their coaches and players rise above and the net and get quality swings without taxing their knees and ankles!
Our next endeavor will focus on a local patch of grass that will soon become the Ellen Toy Grass Court at Kennedy Park. Situated near the new skate park, the street hockey court, and the basketball courts we hope this area becomes the hub of youth physical activity and someone will discover their love for the game, just like Ellen did. We Serve First is set to finance this project, but we’ll need help replacing these funds so that next season, with club volleyball back in full swing, we can return to the mission that truly drives us!
For more on We Serve First’s story, read below...
We Serve First was formed in 2015 to support high school volleyball players in financial distress. Club volleyball and volleyball camps can be expensive, but they are also important tools for young athletes wishing to reach their full potential as players and people. Ultimately, through club participation, these athletes are exposed to college coaches and have a better chance at scholarship opportunities and a college education. We Serve First is the brainchild of Ellen Toy, longtime high school and club volleyball coach here in Western Pennsylvania. In 2015, realizing that her six year battle with gastric cancer was coming to a close, she determined her own legacy with the establishment of this foundation.
