Wharton County Community Foundation

We are helping the community of Wharton and our schools by raising funds to pay for the stadium signage recently named the "Coach Eddie Joseph Memorial Stadium."  In addition to honoring Coach Joseph, the naming event and ongoing stadium prominence will help attract area interest and promote the city and schools.

Eddie was an outstanding athlete, leader, teacher, US Marine Corps Officer, father, grandfather & great-grandfather, business executive and Christian lay minister.  The majority of his professional coaching career was spent in Wharton.  For 14 years, he was the Tigers' Head Football Coach and Athletic Director and is still the winningest in Tiger history:  Not a single losing season in 14 years and a 1st or 2nd finish in district play each year.  From Wharton, he went to Austin where he was named the Executive Vice President of the Texas High School Coaches Association, the largest organization of its kind in the world with over 16,000 members.
