HELP keep our doors open and fulfill our mission
Wheek Care Guinea Pig Rescue's mission is to provide rescue, medical, and sanctuary services to all guinea pigs while also providing boarding, grooming, bonding, respite and hospice services to cavies.
Surrenders, abandonment and abuse of animals is at all all time high. The dog and cat cases make the news, but the abuse of smaller pocket pets is never publicized, yet it is higher than other domesticated pets.
So far this year we are at 525 Guinea pigs Surrenders. Last year the total was 749. Outrageous!!
There are currently over 350 Guinea pigs located in our 2 locations: New Kensington and Castle Shannon, and our Sanctuary/hospice center, also in New Kensington.
It costs us $1200 -- $1300 a month in routine care and our medical bills have totalled over $19,000 so far this year. For the first time in our 22 years of existence, we have had to put a hold on routine surrenders.
We need help to continue our mission to save these wonderful, forgotten little sweethearts.
