Food and EDU SCHOLARSHIPS for Minority Youth
BLACK LIVES MATTER
Wholesome Generation stands firmly on the side of justice and love.
Many of our community members, educators, and children of color that we serve experience oppression, racism, and violence in their lives. Our hearts ache with them. Racial tension touches every corner of life in our society, and schools and learning farms such as Wholesome Generation are no exception.
There is so much work to do, and it’s far past time to start creating changes.
We want a better tomorrow for our children and community.
We are working for a better tomorrow.
Black Lives Matter.
__
Our community has been, since its founding years, committed to working with at-promise youth and minority families, and we just learned that all funding to support our families via subsidized care has been suspended (CCMS has now a waitlist, which we've experienced to be at least 1+ years long).
Many programs are currently closed, leaving families who need access to educational programming, and food, without the much needed help.
So, we NEED TO DO MORE. GIVE MORE. LOVE MORE. And create this SCHOLARSHIP FUND for minority youth, with your help and advocacy.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 so our community school can award EVERY MINORITY family that is currently participating, and to those that have asked for help over the past months and weeks, a SCHOLARSHIP for access to care and food, with continuation for future years, as we'll be running many more fundraisers in our community; Scholarship funds will ONLY be allocated to the following:
• YEAR-ROUND Educational support at Wholesome Generation (pre-K- Elementary);
• FOOD SECURITY (organic, healthy snacks and lunches, made freshly every day). Families won't have to worry about food security even during the summer months, as WG is a year-round program, operating it's food program when children from state schools are on summer breaks;
• SOCIAL EMOTIONAL, CULTURALLY DIVERSE + EQUALITY focused Education. We offer social emotional learning, outdoor programming, and are a multi-cultural community. All children are loved and respected and we proudly serve the LGBTQ+ community.
• COMMUNITY GARDEN spaces will be added for all families. Children learn about organic farming practices in our program, and all produce from their plots will go home to families to secure fresh produce, year-round.
• MEALS for parents who are in need of food during the weekend will be accessible and free.
Wholesome Generation is perfectly equipped to provide "social distance" learning for children as our educational philosophy has most of our school days taking place outside, with small teacher to staff ratios.
Please contribute to our GoFundMe so we can give love, education and food access to more youth and their families.
OUR WHOLESOME MISSION
Wholesome Generation, a 501(c)(3) women-founded Austin organization, develops and integrates an inquiry-based approach to education by engaging children and families in sustainable lifelong learning pathways through progressive education, nature experiences, food and community engagement.
WG is a unique learning model, a forward-thinking cause and enriching experience, fostering a culture of “YES”.
OUR ENVIRONMENT
WG strives to cultivate an inclusive model of Education that flourishes the whole child, giving them a voice in their own learning pathways, so that they can thrive with true purpose in our ever-changing world.
From our origins at Austin, Texas, we have become a colorful movement in education, with new partners joining us frequently to help create our “edible and living” curriculum, educating for sustainability through community-integrated, entrepreneurial learning, in a natural environment.
The true value of the WG community resides in the connection of all our families, educators , volunteers, and our local neighbors. The diversity within our community is a beautiful rainbow of multicultural benefits; from the variety of languages, beliefs and traditions to the wide range of values, principles and identities.
We are gifted with consistent exposure to new ways of going about life that nourishes our tolerance, broadens our perspectives and feeds our global intelligence.
OUR COMMUNITY MODEL
Our campus is nestled at a 5.5-Acre space in North Austin with a creek bed, educational gardens, bee hives, food forest, and animals, with a mobile culinary classroom on site, serving as ESSENTIAL Austin community program offering food security, nature-focused education, and community wellness education, year-round.
We are deeply grateful for our community and your support!
Thank you for your caring and love.
