Williams Creek Youth Foundation (The Wee Course Academic Center and The First Tee of Greater Knoxville)

Who We Are

We are a group of students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville that is working with The First Tee of Greater Knoxville, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to transforming the lives of young people through the game of golf

With your help, we hope to enhance these creative initiatives by offering more kids in our community the opportunity to learn, develop, and grow through the game of golf. First Tee’s impact on the children is not limited to golf abilities but also focuses on creating well behaved young men and women. For example, The First Tee instills fundamental concepts like honesty, perseverance, and respect—qualities that help kids succeed in life as well as on the course. .Within our group, we have an alumni of this organization, Courtland Gray, who has emphasized how vital this organization was to his development.

First Tee of Greater Knoxville’s impact has already spread throughout the Knoxville area, as they offer many college scholarships for program members. This is a well known and influential charity that has branches in many major cities across the country.

What We Need

We are raising money to purchase sets of clubs for the children of First Tee of Knoxville, these are necessary for the game of golf. We need financial support to help supply underprivileged kids with golf clubs that can help them get started playing the game. Nothing about the equipment needs to be state of the art, but improper clubs can hurt their swing and possibly lead to injuries.

First Tee is currently in need of more sets of clubs for kids and team pools. By reaching our stretch goal of 2000$, with this we would be able to buy 11 children sets of clubs and 24 team polos. We estimate that 163$ (150$ for golf clubs and 13$ for clothes) will be enough to provide each new child with enough to start. We hope to be able to raise more than this to extend our help beyond our goal. With your aid, First Tee can give children a healthy and active pastime while teaching them valuable lessons that they will use their entire lives.

How It Helps

By providing the funds for First Tee to buy new equipment and gear for the children it will give another child the ability to enjoy a new sport for minimal cost while making new friends and mentors along the way.

Your support goes further than just providing new equipment. First Tee’s biggest impact on the community is not on the course, their goal is to help teach golf, but more importantly, teach life skills and build character. The program teaches nine core values–respect, honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment. These skills carry on with the kids for the rest of their lives, positively translating on and off the golf course.
