Help Fund "The Farm Boy" Film
THE FARM BOY is a feature-length film currently in production in Vermont. The film tells the story of Calvin Dillard, a truck driver, who picks up milk daily on small hillside farms in the early 1940s. As the war rages on in Europe, Calvin's life is interrupted when he is drafted into the service. Leaving his young bride behind, he is shipped to Nazi occupied France. As winter fiercely approraches and his unit moves north, he is hit by enemy fire and left behind for dead. Rescued by a young French girl who risks her life to save him, he must now make his way back through the dangerous and treacherous countryside of 1944 Belgium.
GEORGE WOODARD, writer, director, and cinematographer, is a Vermont dairy farmer milking 25 cows on the 200 acre farm his grandfather bought more than 100 years ago. Evolving from an early immersion in theatre, he is an actor and director with both Hollywood and regional credits. Admired for his many talents and his humble, approachable manner, George is often referred to as a Vermont icon. He is loved for his grass roots productions in film, music, and theatre. His first feature, the award winning film "The Summer of Walter Hacks", 2010, was nominated for Best Screenplay and Best Stunts by the Maverick Movie Awards.
"The Farm Boy" is written by the director and loosely based on the real life story of his parents. A love story and an adventure, "The Farm Boy" is about trust, integrity, and standing behind your word. It is a story that will take you back to a time when life was hard but sweet. When war took young men away from their homes and threatened the livelihood of their families. Illuminating a time in history when sacrifice provided a sense of purpose, "The Farm Boy" will stir your emotions and make you long for what we have lost.
We began filming "The Farm Boy" in August of 2016 with a steller volunteer cast of regional actors. We are seeking funds for the development of an original music score that will breathe life into this heartfelt story. Please help us continue the production of this wonderful film.
We cannot express enough gratitude for your tax deductible donation. Thank you for becoming a supporter of George Woodard's "The Farm Boy". This film could not be made without you.
