Below is Hans story as provided by his mother Chiaralyn.

Hans was born with a Congenital Heart Defect called Tricuspid Atresia with VSD and Pulmonary Stenosis.  He was diagnosed when he was still inside the utero at 7 months during the Congenital Anomaly Scan. He is a rainbow baby (livebirth after 2 miscarriages). At 7 days of life, he undergone Balloon Atrial Septostomy via catheter, wherein they made a hole between the atria to allow mixing of blood for him to survive.

His oxygen saturations sit to 70-75% which makes him turn blue, easily gets winded and tired. He is delayed with his motor development and other milestones because of this lifelong condition. Despite of these circumstances, Hans is a happy baby and is brave enough to battle CHD.
 
Medical care in the Philippines will cost a lot of money for his surgery. Tricuspid Atresia entails series of 3 Open Heart Surgeries. He missed the first step since his Pulmonary Stenosis was not severe. The second stage is the Glenn Shunt at 3-6 months of age and the final stage is called the Fontan at 3-5 years of age.

Hans' family heard Gift of Life Foundation, Rotary District 7490 from a mom whose child was operated in the US. Hans was fortunate and blessed to be chosen as one of the foundation's recipients. He underwent Glenn Surgery, an open heart palliative procedure in August of 2019. Now, that he turned 3, he needs the next stage surgical palliation, the Fontan Surgery which is important for his long term health.
