Funds to ship laptops to Ghana
Hello all,
My name is Sarah Kyeremeh and I am a third year computer science student at University of Houston. I am the founder of an educational non-profit known as TeachGhana that advocates and promotes STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics) in Ghana.
In 2015 I visited Ghana where I was born and partially raised to tour junior high schools with some of my friends. What I observed on that trip was that most of the public Basic schools did not have computers and only learned about computers through books. I then went back again in 2016 to teach computer science in some senior high schools and it was the success of these two projects that inspired me to started TeachGhana.
In many places around the world, computing education is seen as something that is normal, but in some of the schools that I had the pleasure of visiting, it didn't seem that way. I believe that every child deserves to be taught computing and that is why I am raising money to ship laptops to Ghana.
As part of my social entrepreneurship class project, I am collecting 10 or more laptops and shipping them to a very deserving school who will utilize these devices. You donations will aid in shipping the laptops to Ghana and also in paying for the duty when it reach Ghana. The laptops will be given to a basic school (elementary to middle school) and as such will benefit students in those levels (usually 6 years to 14years).
I would love for the laptops to reach Ghana by the May 3rd and as such would love to reach my goal by April 11th.
I am still in the process of collecting laptops and will be more than happy to receive your new or used devices that you'd like to bless these students with. Please contact me if you'd like to donate your device(s).
Thank you for donating, your help will not be in vain!
