Hello - I am trying to raise funds to provide educational intervention for my son, Charles. He is six years old and is having trouble in school. He is a great kid but he is failing first grade. He is currently at risk of being held back in first grade – a terrible thought for a young child. This is such an important grade for all children and I don't want his academic success to start with struggle.
While it is bad enough that he may be held back, he will also be forced to go to a different school if he falls behind. There are no additional slots in first grade once the current kindergartners move up, so we would have to place him elsewhere. I don't want to have to explain to him not only that he won't be able to see his friends as much anymore, but also that he will have to go to an entirely different school just to do the same schoolwork again.
While he can get some help through the school, it feels like too little and it would certainly be too late to help before the school year ends. I have turned to resources outside the school for help to get Charles on pace with his peers and help him to find the academic success that seems to elude him.
MY GOAL
While I work as hard as I can to provide and be a good role model for my children, both as a single parent but also by our involvement in the church and our ministry, I can't get the money together on my own. Our involvement in the ministry has been a huge boon in my family's life, both to provide strong leadership to me but also to my kids. I don't know what I would do without them.
I work as a substitute teacher and am a full-time college student, and at the end of the day, there just isn't enough to cover our home, food and growing bills. I really want Charles to get the help he needs with his schooling.
I have found a program that will allow Charles to get the help he needs, and they are willing to work with the frantic schedule that comes with being a mom, a student and a guiding light. My goal for funding is $7000 which would provide him with a full six months of intensive language intervention. The program owners agreed to discount the costs, considering mine and Charles' situation. The programs are research-based and proven to work, so I know that this time and money will put Charles into a position to get him back on track. They have also agreed that once we have $1175, we can begin the language interventions!
Any generosity is truly welcome and I would be very grateful. Even a donation as small as a dollar will make a huge difference in a child's future.
WHERE THE FUNDS WILL GO
The funding will be used for a new research-based language program called NOW! Foundations. Here are some testimonials from other families who have completed the program. To see how happy these families are after completing these programs gives me great hope for Charles. Here's more information on these programs.

WHAT WE WILL DO
In return, we will share updates as his reading and spelling improves. You can watch a young man reach his full potential. You can see how the money is being spent. I want to show you how Charles is doing at each step of the way. We can watch his growth and progress together. Hopefully Charles will share some of his own thoughts about this as well. As each stage gets funding, then you'll get updates the same way that I will.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. I want people to feel that they can take stake in Charles’ success and know that they are responsible for helping him in his journey.
