Young Golden Retriever needs help
We are fighting to save our one year old Golden Retriever, Chesterton. We recently thought we would have to put him down, but he miraculously bounced back enough over night that we were able to hold off and see another vet who said they can restore him to good health. We simply don't have the money to do it and are desperate for help.
When we got Chesterton at 8 months old, he was very sick with what was described to us as an infection in his jaw. Because his infection hadn't been noticed for quite a while when he was a young puppy, the infection had eaten away some of the bone around his jaw area.
Last Sunday, I noticed Chesterton's upper jaw was shifted dramatically to one side after eating his dinner. He simply laid on the floor lethargically all night. When I took him to the vet the next day, we were told his jaw was broken and he would have to be put down.
The next morning, Chesterton was wagging his tail, eating food, and playing with our Granddaughter, who loves him so much. We took him to Austin Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Center, and met with the Dental Specialist there, Dr. Tiffany Menke.
She told us Chesterton's jaw could be fixed and that he could lead a healthy happy life. Chesterton is an Old Soul of a dog. He has been through so much in his one year of life. You can see it in his eyes.
The amount of funds listed is the estimate we were given by Dr. Menke. I absolutely hate to ask for money but my husband and I are senior citizens and have very limited funds. We need your help. Thank you so much.
