Chet - WWII Veteran Home Fund
Donation protected
This is Lucien E. Lebrun, aka "Chet". He is 97 years old and a WWII Veteran. He served proudly in the US Army and has made many sacrifies for our country.
Chet lives independently by himself in a mobile home park in Winter Haven. His mobile home was severly damaged by Hurricane Irma and unfortunately he has no insurance. He lost his entire covered carport which protected his electric scooter and golf cart from the weather. These are his only form of transportation around the park as the state revoked his drivers license due to his age 3 years ago. Chet's roof of his mobile home was also damaged extensively, there is rain and moisture entering his home which has caused mildew that will soon become mold and could cause him health issues. The healt dept and the VA are wanting him to leave and enter an assisted living facilty which he refuses to do as he takes pride in his independence. I applied for FEMA assistance and they denied his claim as they say it could be worse and at least he can live there....REALLY??? I am appauled that FEMA is treating him this way. I have appealled Fema's decision but they are telling me it could take months to review.
I contacted a contractor who thought maybe they could get supplies donated but that fell through.
Another contactor who is a friend of mine has helped prepare letters of appeal to Fema and even went over and spent a couple hours with Chet to hear his stories about his courage journey during his tour in WWII.
Anything will help......The selfless veteran deserves better than being thrown out of his home!!
Thank you for taking the time to read....God Bless
