Chicks Conquering Cancer Inc. is a non-profit organisation that assists families in South East QLD when they are in need during and after their treatment for cancer. We are staffed wholly by volunteers and our funds are raised entirely through our own fundraising activities, as we receive no corporate or government funding. We are in desperate need of financial donations this Christmas as this is one of the hardest times for people coping with the pressures of Cancer.
The support we offer includes:
Emotional support by visiting clients at home, in hospitals and daily phone call support. Information is also shared with the assistance of professionals who volunteer their time at our events.
Practical support is provided by taking care of some arrangements, e.g. doctor appointments, accommodation, medical aids, transport and palliative care. We have also had the pleasure of organising weddings for clients but unfortunately, we have also been involved in organising and financing funerals.
Financial support is also provided by way of grocery vouchers, house cleaning, lawn mowing, petrol etc., and this is where most of our fundraising money is spent.
We work tirelessly in our community to hold fundraising events, but we are finding that demand for our services exceeds our capacity to raise money and are asking for your kind donations to continue our essential work.
So please give whatever you can and know that the beautiful people we help appreciate every dollar.

This beautiful organisation working in our local community LOOKS for ways to "be there" for families at a time when life no longer resembles normal or what it used to be.
My family had their first holiday away from home EVER, their first meal that DIDN'T come from a fast food restaurant, "brand" name easter eggs that actually tasted good, and most importantly, warmth and love from a fellow human being reaching out for no other reason than to offer support and comfort.

"I didn't know of any support places around let alone "Chicks Conquering Cancer", I had only known of the "Cancer Counsel QLD" when my Daughter called me crying so much I couldn't understand her ....I calmed her down as much as I could over the phone.
We were all stunned with her news at the age of 28 she was told she not only had Breast Cancer but it was metastasis [and] she was pregnant with my youngest grandchild, although she could start chemo within 3 days.
She surprised me and announced that one of her wishes was to get married to her partner and the father of her children Krystie, Jacinta, Castiel and Jackson. For a short while it gave them something else to think of but came to a snag [in organising a wedding] in a short amount of time with no money. To our surprise along came a nonprofit organisation called "Chicks Conquering Cancer" who provide free peer-based support, educational programs, practical help and financial assistance directly to those affected by cancer.
With the lovely ladies Kathy Smith and Marj Saunders from "Chicks Conquering Cancer" entering the picture, Jessica and Clinton had a place to get married and a reception, all we had to do is wait for the big day to come.
Sadly time was not on Jessica's side as days passed she became more unwell as the cancer was ravaging her frail body she endured chemo as well as radium was more times in hospital than at home with her children and new husband but that didn't stop the lovely Kathy or Marj from either calling or stopping in to check on Jessica or her family. Clinton was used to working full time to provide for his family but had given up work to care for his new wife and children. "Chicks Conquering Cancer" jumped into action and helped them out with a few bills as well as food.
Even though Jessica's fight ended in May 2015 both Marj and Kathy still touch base with either Clinton or I and they even come to see the kids and to see how big Jackson is getting when they have the chance.
Without the support of Chicks Conquering Cancer Jessica's wish would never have happened so any businesses out there that happen to see my post, any donations will go a long way and be appreciated so if you can donate anything monetary, fundraising, prizes, or even your time, it can be vouchers, mechanical, hairdressing please donate.

I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer 8 July 2015.
Where would I be now without you...I know that my stress levels have been eased immensely by having CCC support.
From my house being cleaned, to my lawns being mowed, bills paid and just to have someone to sit with me and chat...wow you have helped with making my journey incredibly easier by taking away those pressures.
Kathy you are an amazing lady.
When I met Kathy for the first time I was being discharged from hospital and she sat with me for a few hours waiting in the transit lounges until my daughter arrived. That shows the care and support.
Anyone with cancer knows the life-changing challenging battle, and to have the support really does make a difference.
The fight never ends!!!!

From helping take everyday stress off with house cleaning, yard work, bills, respite care for the families. Smiles and a shoulder to turn to support where it is really needed.
