Child Development Through Sound Therapy
Hello, my name is Ed Cleveland and I am running a GoFundMe for the work I do in Neuro Acoustic Sound Therapy for kids and teens. I have completed almost 400 hours in certified studies using gongs, singing bowls and other indigenous instruments and mindfulness practices with Mitch Nur PhD, and I would like your help. This is a field that is getting much attention in our community, and having a sound education is very valuable. Please read to the end, and I hope this touches your heart in offering your donations. The kids and teens will be grateful, and so will I for this opportunity.
We all must deal with our own emotional upsets and tension caused by everyday living. Increasingly however, we live in an age of anxiety from situations that create stress in people from younger and younger ages who are suffering from high blood pressure, ADHD, or on the spectrum of some kind. They are faced with a busy mind, or brain is slow, dull, or forgetful, and sometimes they feel like losing it and end up committing Suicide.
As a teacher in Sound I feel it is very important right now for public or private schools to have an early child development and teen program introducing different instruments, mindfulness techniques, and methods on feeling empowered. After all, too many are suffering inside, confused, being bullied, hurting themselves, or others.
The vagus nerve, which originates in the brain as cranial nerve ten, travels down from the neck and then passes around the digestive system, liver, spleen, pancreas, heart and lungs. This nerve is a major player in the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the ‘rest and digest’ part (opposite to the sympathetic nervous system which is ‘fight of flight’).
Sound has the ability to significantly increase feelings of being more relaxed within the experience, with a decreased activity of the sympathetic nervous system, slowing down the heart rate, lowering blood pressure and allowing for breathing to return to normal. This increases digestion and reestablishes immune functions within the organs of the body.
Neuro Acoustic Sound Therapy can have a great impact on children’s social, emotional and cognitive development, accelerating brain development in young children, particularly in the areas responsible for processing sound, language development, speech perception and reading skills. The cortex is the most highly evolved part of the brain being stimulated and connects with rational thought, the ability to strategize and plan long-term. It connects our ear to our brain to process the harmonics.
I wish to bring forth the benefits of this type of sound education at a time when many schools around the nation have reduced music and arts programs.
Slower, rhythmic, diaphragmatic breathing is needed even more today because our world is changing at an ever-increasing pace. We really need to slow some things down while building creativity, imagination, understanding, thought, reasoning, intent, decision making skills in our kids, the future of our world. The relaxation of voluntary skeletal muscles to reduce very low levels of tension in the major muscle groups such as the arms and the legs happens while feeling the live harmonic vibrations.
The cost for bringing in Gongs and other instruments into the schools with packing and set up time is $500 to $700 per school depending on the travel and the amount of time spent, as it usually takes 8 to 10 hours from port to port. With that said it is my goal to book 2 schools a week until summer vacation, and continue in Sept to the New Year. That’s 80 local schools for a total of $40,000.
