Christmas Relief in Puerto Rico
Donation protected
Dear friends and family,
This past summer, I had the pleasure of celebrating my 50th birthday with Dave, Benny and Hailey in beautiful Puerto Rico. One of the highlights of our trip was staying at the Rainforest Inn, a luxurious bed and breakfast situated in the El Yunque National Forest.

During our stay at the Rainforest Inn, we fell asleep every night to the peaceful sounds of native coquí frogs and woke up every morning to delicious vegetarian breakfasts and coffee. In between, we got to know Renee and Bill, the warm, wonderful innkeepers who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of fellow Puerto Ricans through social, environmental and political advocacy work. In case you were wondering, that's Renee and Bill in the photo above!
After the hurricane, we reached out to Renee and Bill and were relieved to hear that the Rainforest Inn was miraculously spared from devastation. Nevertheless, like everywhere in Puerto Rico, the needs for electricity, water, food and other basic necessities have continued to go unmet in the Rio Grande area where the Rainforest Inn is located. When we asked Renee and Bill how we could help, they suggested a Go Fund Me page to help raise money to buy Christmas gifts (toys, books) for the children of Rio Grande who otherwise would go without this holiday season.
I imagine that many of you have already donated to relief efforts for the various hurricanes, including Maria, that have swept across our country these past several weeks. But for those of you who are still looking to make an impact, I encourage you to consider making a donation to this Go Fund Me page. With your help, several children will still be able to open a Christmas present this holiday season.
With appreciation,
Michelle, Dave, Benny and Hailey
