Citizens for Saving Lake Michigan
Spende geschützt
Citizens for Saving Lake Michigan is a bipartisan group of concerned stakeholders-citizens, businesses, municipalities, politicians, and civic leaders-united by our love of Lake Michigan and the State of Wisconsin We are objecting to NOAA's proposal for their desired Federal take over of 80 miles of shoreline and 1260 Sq. miles of Lake Michigan, to "protect" shipwrecks.
Wisconsin has a strong history of protecting our shipwrecks. Under 1991 Wisconsin Act 269, the state of Wisconsin Historical Society is charged with protecting our submerged cultural resources. Moreover, Wisconsins shipwrecks have also been covered under Federal law by National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 and the Abandoned Shipwreck Act of 1987. Our DNR, Coast Guard, local law enforcenment and the Wisconsin Historical Society also manage and protect shipwrecks. Why do we need another layer of Federal "protection"? We do not.
The proposed NOAA Marine Sanctuary is an unfunded Federal mandate. NOAA comes with no budget for itself and it's so called" partners". In the end this will all fall on the tax payers for their strict regulations and control of our fresh water.
We are asking for your full support to help us STOP THE NOAA MARINE SANCTUARY from ever coming to Wisconsin.
Our messaging has costs associated with getting the word out on this massive effort. We are now seeking small donations. Examples for our on going expenses are, stationary, binders, copies, stamps, email updates through Mail Chimp comes at a monthly cost of $110.00, signs for protesting, brouchures we hand out at events. Our efforts for the past two years thus far have been self funded. Your help is greatly appreciated.
