Water Filters 4 Peru Flood Victims

ONE LIFE-SAVING FILTER COSTS LESS THAN $100!
My name is Miranda Spindt from Genesee Depot, WI. I am raising funds to purchase water purification systems for the flood victims of Paita, Peru. In the summer of 2016, as part of my Girl Scout Gold Award project, I  was part of a  medical mission that traveled to Paita. Together with Connecting Hearts and Hands in Peru ministry of St. Paul's of Genesee and the School Sisters of St. Francis of St. Clara School, I assembled, taught classes on their use and distributed 50 Berkey water purification systems to families in Paita who lacked access to clean healthy water. Now, more than ever, my Peruvian family needs more of these systems and I am asking for your help to get these filters to them asap. 

Last month, Paita, a desert town, had over 30 hours of continuous rain with nowhere for it to go resulting in devastating damage, loss of life and thousands were displaced from their homes. Most have little to no access to clean water! My hope is to raise funds to purchase 25 Berkey systems for families in need of clean water. We are working with the Sisters of St. Francis of St. Clara in Paita who are tirelessly working to get families their basic needs, including clean drinking water. 

The systems consist of 2 Berkey filters between two  
5-gallon food grade buckets and a spigot. The system works by placing contaminated water in the top bucket, works through the 2 filters and purified water enters the bottom bucket, safe for drinking and cooking. One LIFE-SAVING fully built water purification system costs a little less than $100 and will last a family over 5 years. These filters will be personally transported to Peru by members of our ministry.  Read more about my project and our ministry here:
