Mural for Maruta Gardner Day 2019
Maruta Gardner touched countless lives in our beach communities, as a friend, an educator, an activist, and through selfless community service. Maruta was such remarkable lady that the San Diego City Council declared November 3 as Maruta Gardner Day!
We will always remember her, but we can best honor her spirit by following her example; inspiring others to serve, and strengthening our community bonds.
As part of her legacy we are committed to highlight the importance of Community Service every year with public art that will inspire others to serve in their communities. LAST YEAR everyone wanted a way to be a part of this project so we created this GoFundMe.
Our next mural will feature the dedication of our firefighters, lifeguards, fire-rescue team, police, and first responders.
We are currently working with the City for permission to paint the very long concrete wall at the south end of Mission Blvd at N. Jetty Rd in Mission Beach! It will be a much longer process but we are looking forward to the end result!
We estimate the cost of mural supplies and artist's fee will be close to $5000, so any size contribution will help get us closer to making this vision a reality xo
Art submissions/applications will be open soon.
There will also be a Day of Service every November 3rd, everyone is invited to participate in community service projects with us!
