Update 4/18/19: *We have a kidney donor!*
Thank you so much to all who have supported Joey during this difficult time. Your contributions have been more than helpful. Joey has healed up from his triple bypass surgery, and his heart health is good- thank you for all of your prayers!

More good news- we have a donor but funds are still needed! Our wonderful family friend Lisa Diederich is a match and is willing to do the selfless act of donating a kidney. She will have to travel to Shand’s in Gainesville, FL from California for more testing before they can move forward with the transplant. Joey is still undergoing dialysis treatment 3 days a week for 4 hours each day. Our goal is to reach $15,000 for expenses for travel & lodging for both Lisa and Joey. Please pray that all is well with Lisa’s testing and that they can move forward with the transplant in the next few months. Any contribution will be so helpful for the both of them. We are so thankful to our wonderful friend Lisa and for all of your support! Please keep both her and Joey in your prayers and may God bless them both!

11/10/18 UPDATE: On Wednesday, Nov. 7,  Joey suffered a heart attack. Years of kidney disease and meds have taken a toll on his heart. Doctors at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital planned to wait to perform a triple bypass surgery on the following Monday. However, a second heart attack occurred on Wednesday, Nov. 7th and left them no choice but to do an emergency open heart surgery that afternoon. The triple bypass was a success but controlling the bleeding has been a problem due to the blood thinners already in his system. He is currently in stable, but critical condition in the cardiac ICU which he will remain for at least 2 weeks. He will be receiving dialysis daily along with very close monitoring. He has a very long and rough road ahead. The goal is to get him healthy enough to be able to undergo a kidney transplant as soon as his health allows. There is a possibility that Joey will be out of work for the remainder of the school year. With mounting medical bills and no income, we are asking for your help! No amount is too little.


The search continues for a kidney match for Joey. It is a very easy process to see if you may be a match. The potential donor must be O+ blood type. For those of you who know Coach Striplin, you are aware of his passion for coaching football. In 27 years, he has not missed one game. In the last month he has missed 2. In October, he walked his daughter Evann down the aisle. Last night he laid in ICU while his team played the first game of the playoffs without their head coach. We want Coach Striplin to get back on to the sidelines as soon as possible so that he can continue to do what he does best.

We are asking for donations at this time of need for our beloved brother, uncle, father, friend and coach Joey Striplin. Joey has been suffering from kidney disease the majority of his life and will need his second kidney transplant.  His lengthy hospital stays in the last few months have kept him from working. Joey has been a teacher and coach for 23 years and mentored many young adults. He has been awarded “Coach of the Year”.  Currently he is the head football coach for Gadsden High School and recently was voted by fellow coaches in Leon County as head coach for Florida vs Georgia all star game.  He is especially loved for his fun sense of humor and passion on the football field. 

Our prayer is to get Joey back in good health, with a good kidney and to have no stress regarding his financial well being. Any donation is greatly appreciated.
