Help Code 7 Support Young People

We are a London charity based in Lambeth founded in 1996. We are celebrating our 21st anniversary this year. This is an important year for Code 7 and we are currently undertaking a fundamental evidenced based, strategic review. As a result we are refocusing our services
to target violence as a public health. We believe that our 21-year experience of working in this field has demonstrated the need for a more comprehensive approach to tackling violence and social alienation if we are to develop safe, stable, sustainable communities.
Code 7 has provided free on-demand music production, one to one mentoring and accredited training, for vulnerable young people, especially those who have been identified by authorities or communities as in danger of becoming either a victim or perpetrator of violence or criminality for the last two decades.
In the future our aim is to refocus our efforts, in line with our professional experience, onto services provision for families, community health and well-being, education, employment, early violence intervention and prevention. We need to become proactive in reducing those who through their vulnerability to violence go on to commit violence against others.
Many of the young people that we serve are incredibly creative, but are hindered through high rates of poverty, lack of education, poverty, long-term unemployment and poor health rates. Others lack social capital and access to formal and informal opportunities to progress.
We wish to expand our offer to include the root causes and the wider issues that are driving violent crime particularly in deprived communities. We recognise that seeking to make this transition will be difficult we are convinced to the need to change. We recognise that the current funding /public services climate means that charities like ours, will often struggle to attract funding.
That’s why we are asking for your support to make this important transition and expand our current service provision. We are asking that you donate time and/or money to our cause. We have identified that we need to raise £25,000 to help fund and secure our current office space. Please visit our Code 7 Go Fund Me page or our website featured below to donate your time or money.
We need volunteers from all walks of life. We need to raise our profile and in the context declining public finances, begin the process of securing independent finance. We believe with your help and support we can effectively transition our services and secure our legacy in Lambeth.
Yours sincerely,
Peter St.Aubyn CEO
