Cody Givens

Cody suffered a gunshot wound to the mouth while in bed asleep, due to an ongoing investigation this is all of the information that can be given now.  He was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center the same night and admitted to the Trauma ICU.  A couple days after, when he was stable, he was scheduled for surgery to reconstruct his jaw and remove the bullet.  During this surgery he ruptured a vessel and lost a lot of blood.  The doctors made a decision to wait until the swelling had gone down to try again.  He is scheduled for surgery again tomorrow. 

If all goes as planned the surgery will be completed soon and Cody will begin his road to recovery.  He will have his jaw wired shut to help the healing, so this will not be the end of his treatment.  It is still unknown what all will be needed during his recovery.  While he has insurance to help with expenses, we all know this may not be enough.  Medical bills, expenses, and wages lost begin to add up and become a burden for a family that has already been through a hard-enough time. 

In the time that I have known Cody I have seen what a kind and caring man he is.  I have had the pleasure to get to know Cody and his family over the past several years.  They are people that will do anything they can to help when someone is in a bad spot.  They are good people that did not deserve this, but they are strong and will make it through.
