No one ever imagines writing a GOFUNDME page…
In a matter of days our lives have changed forever. Our hearts are heavy and we need to share our new reality with the community that we love. The following diagnosis was given to Colby on September 7.
Pancreatic carcinoma (HCC)
Metastatic adenocarcinoma to liver (HCC)
Malignant neoplasm metastatic to lung, unspecified laterality (HCC)
Cancer associated pain
Acute vein thrombosis (DVT) of distal vein of left lower extremity (HCC)
Simply put, incurable Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.
A message from Lindsey:
“Our family’s world has been turned upside down in a matter of days. Colby is finally home resting, after many difficult days in and out of the hospital. We are grateful for the team of nurses, doctors and specialists who will be treating Colby with a total emphasis on pain control and quality of life. Colby’s mind and spirit are strong. He is doing his best to keep his positive perspective and contagious smile we all love. We are going to make every day as comfortable and pain free as possible. Many appointments are scheduled in the days, weeks and months ahead with palliative chemotherapy beginning September 18. We are hopeful that his body will respond well to this treatment and progress will be made in the shrinking of his cancer to relieve pain. This is an overwhelming amount of information. Please know that we are doing our best to handle these challenges. We are comforted knowing you are holding us in your hearts during this most difficult time.”
This GOFUNDME is designed to provide financial assistance for the Nightingale family. Lindsey will be caring for Colby and has taken a leave of absence from her teaching position at Amity Creek. It is unlikely Colby will be able to return to his job at Deschutes Brewery any time soon. Time is uncertain and every moment counts.
Please forward this GOFUNDME to those who love, respect and cherish the Nightingale family.
Colby, Lindsey, Makenna and Maryn thank you for your love and support through this difficult time. Makenna will be making updates to this website as updates become available.
