Help PASO perform in Colombia

Please help members of the Pan American Symphony Orchestra cover the cost of travelling to Medellin, Colombia, to perform at the prestigious International Tango Festival.
The Pan American Symphony Orchestra is honored to be the first American tango orchestra invited to perform at the International Tango Festival (known locally as Festitango) in Medellin, Colombia. We are proud to be a premiere tango orchestra based in Washington, DC, a gem in the Washington area arts community. We've been delighting audiences with the best of tango and Latin American music for over 25 years.
This is a very special opportunity to perform for the Colombian people, who truly love and appreciate tango. We are excited to be guests of the City of Medellin, the only other Latin American city outside of Buenos Aires with a 100-year tradition of tango. We'll be opening the second half of the Festival on June 20 at Teatro Metropolitano, Medellin’s largest theater, with a program that combines traditional tangos with the nuevo tango of Astor Piazzolla. Members of the orchestra will also lead master classes for young Colombian musicians while we're there.
WHO WE ARE
Led by Maestro Sergio Buslje, PASO's Founder and Artistic Director, we're a unique blend of professional and amateur musicians, a diverse group united by our shared passion for tango music. Some of us are students pursuing advanced degrees in music; some are teachers of music and other subjects. Some of us are pursuing careers in music, while others work in professions outside of the arts but remain committed to making music an integral part of our lives.
Since its founding in 1991, PASO has always done its best to give back to the communities it serves. Over the years, we have developed outreach programs that offer music education and support for underserved youth in the DC metro area. Our musicians have visited area schools to perform educational concerts and have volunteered their services as instructors for summer instrumental music programs. We currently partner with the DC International School to provide music lessons to middle and high school students, with plans to expand to a Saturday music academy.
WHAT YOUR DONATION WILL PROVIDE:
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform at the International Tango Festival allows us to share our music with new audiences in a new corner of the world. PASO's stay will be sponsored by the City of Medellin. However, this does not include airfare for our 20-piece orchestra and our instruments. Unfortunately, the unplanned expense of international travel is prohibitive for our musicians.
Your donation to this campaign will cover our transportation costs from Washington, DC, to Medellin, Colombia. With your help, we can make this dream a reality!
PASO is a 501(c )(3) and as such, your donation is tax-deductible. Receipts are available.
