TO MY FRIENDS, FAMILY, and COMMUNITY ~

This is me stepping out on faith and taking a huge risk.

I have fundraised for many causes and many people over the years, but never for my own artistic vision.  This is my year of leaning more deeply into the calling that has been brewing inside of me.

I know each of you through very different parts of my life.  Some know me as an artist, musician and a creator. Some know me as an educator and an arts administrator. Some know me as a mom and others as a sister or friend.

I identify myself as a lover of life and a beauty seeker and creator. I’m a deeply curious human with a love for making meaning out of our daily existence.

That is my calling.  It is the reason why I am here.

I have been dreaming of the day that I could officially engage in a platform that embodies the spirit and vision of my desire to create beauty, love and transformation in the world through art and music.

COLORQUEEN is just that.

It’s not just my visual art and music brand.

It is my dream-child and the culminating outcome of more than 16 years of work, experience and reflection in arts education.

MISSION STATEMENT:
COLORQUEEN is a multidisciplinary artistic and educational platform that creates curated experiences that highlight the intersection between art, music, travel and culture. There is a strong emphasis on transformative thinking and living and the way in which that influences the creation of art.

WHAT:
The COLORQUEEN organization is the creative hub for the artistic and transformative educational work of Cava Menzies. It is designed to create avenues for engagement and connection between people that want to engage in more creative living.

BRANCHES OF COLORQUEEN:

• FORUMS: A collection of interactive panel discussions hosted and moderated by COLORQUEEN engaging adult and youth artists on topics of creativity, identity, self expression, and personal transformation.

•  WORKSHOPS: In-person workshops providing opportunities for individuals and small groups to engage in hands-on art/music making and creating.  These workshops will be collaborative, with deep-dive exploration into our creative process, approach, and philosophy behind our work.

•  LOVE IN COLOR TOURS: Curated educational and artistic tours connecting professional artists (facilitators) with up and coming youth student artists. Through the lens of national and international travel, student artists and facilitators will collaborate artistically through daily workshops, mentorship pairings, cultural arts programming, leadership development, tour and travel excursions, and dedicated artistic space to create and develop collaborative work.  All work created on the tour will reflect on questions of identity, global citizenship, free expression, and international art and culture. The goal is two-fold: to foster international creative consciousness and to create stronger connections and relationships between adult artists and young artists.

•  CONCERTS AND EVENTS:  Quarterly showcases of COLORQUEEN curated artwork and music collaborations.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

I am looking to my community to help me navigate one of the biggest career jumps I've ever made.

After 16 years of full-time work as an educator and arts administrator, I've decided to step out on faith and move into a being a part-time educator and full-time ART, MUSIC, and content curator.  I'm letting go of all of my administrative roles that I've held for so many years at OSA and am getting back to my roots of why I fell in love with creativity in the first place.  Ultimately, I want to fully embrace this brand as the next chapter of my work as an artist, educator and creator.

For those of you that have done the leap into full-time artist-hood, please share your tips with me.  I'm very much in the learn-by-doing phase and am open to hearing from folks that have creatively woven their way through this.

For those of you that have the financial means to give to this campaign, please do!

My aim is for this to be an exchange, not just an “ask” for financial support. I've created various giving tiers below so that my artistic work can do the speaking and hopefully make its way into your home, studio, or place of business.  All funds raised through this campaign will assist me in leveraging this vision into a platform that impacts and serves the larger community.
