Help support the Community Hearth rebuild

Hi,

My name is Niki and I am a Sacred Firekeeper. I host Community Fires every month. Around the Fire we share stories, music, laughter, connection, grief and joy and everything in between. We experience a safe place to learn, heal and share, bringing benefit to our homes that ripples into the wider world. We have a wonderful eclectic community who come from far and wide to be together in authentic communication. The medicine of Fire is truly transformative, and I have seen magic and healing happen in many people’s lives since hosting these Fires.

It is an honour to hold the Sacred Fire and a commitment that I hold dear. I believe that building community and offering a space for healing and transformation is more important now than ever before.

It is time to upgrade the Fire pit (again!). The reason for this is with the increased rainfall of recent years, there has been some erosion of the river bank due to flooding, and we need to expand the space to accommodate a growing community.

Up until now I have self-funded the improvements spending thousands of pounds, levelling the land, building a compost loo, and improving the seating. The new build requires excavating the land to widen the arc of the fire pit boundary, removing soil, digging a trench to concrete sleepers and create a retaining wall. This will involve getting a digger and track barrow in as well as labour and costs of stone, oak sleepers etc. etc. These improvements are quite costly even though you might not imagine so. People might think that I am upgrading my garden, but I would not need to go to these lengths if it were just for my personal use. The only reason to carry out these works is to improve the space for the community.

With regard to the Community Fires themselves, I ask for a £10 exchange, this covers the offerings and wood, it does not cover the many hours, time and care that I put into hosting the Fires and supporting the community in between, nor does it go towards paying for this new scope of work.

So I am reaching out to you my friends, family and tribe and those who believe in the importance of fostering community. I am asking for support because I realise that I cannot do this alone. I am constantly supporting my local neighbourhood and further afield, not just with the Fires but in a myriad of other ways. It takes more than one person to build a community and I am learning how to ask for help so that we are all invested in supporting each other and creating resilient communities that grow in a good way.
