E.D.G.E. Northside Program

I believe we (you and my company) can change the world -- this year! If you don’t know who we are, E.D.G.E of Orion Theatre company uses the arts to highlight marginalized communities and foster the tools of social change through its theatre programming.
At the heart of our work is the Constellation Project, which works to create an inclusive environment for actors of all backgrounds and abilities. For a decade we’ve actively built from the ground up dynamic theatre programs that challenges established expectations. There are “special needs” theatre programs on the Northside but none of them come close to offering the agency and self actualization we do. We do this following these guidelines:
One: Inclusion. All people from all walks are welcomed. It is essential that our ensembles have children with special needs and their typically functioning peers. The word “peer” is important here. If we are going to create a community that has real inclusion, young people need to see each other as valuable co-members of society - not charitable projects. We foster an environment that requires all actors to respect each other’s humanity.
Two: Expect the best. Everyday. From Everyone. Every time someone walks into our rehearsal space we expect their utmost and we require it.
Three: Individuals treated like individuals create the best ensemble. We treat each actor as an individual and take the time to get to know them.
Our style of theatre requires time and commitment. In the past decade our productions have been seen by over 10,000 people in the Northwest and South Suburbs. We are asking you to help us bring it to the Northside.
Please, if you feel you can, donate to our cause. The goal is tangible and with your help we can bring a brand new theatre program that will challenge our community to strive in ways unimagined before.
