Courtney Amelia's Brain Surgery

Donation protected

My wife and I had a vision for 2017 and it did not look anything like this.

Courtney definitely did not think at the age of 28 That she would be sat down and told Of A 12mm pineal cystic tumor Sitting smack bang in the middle of her brain.

My wife has always been a passionate and driven individual , happy and full of life!
It has been extremely difficult for us as a small family to watch Courtney be affected by this tumor the way it has. So much so that I've had to return from work to take care of Courtney and our beautiful little boy hunter.

Thankfully We are traveling to Sydney to have a consultation with Charlie Teo, an incredible man and world renowned neurosurgeon who specialises in this specific tumor.

" It has slowly been taking over my life.
I have been having the most debilitating symptoms; Vision impairment, dizziness, insomnia, headaches, nausea, high pitch ringing of the ears (tinnitus), fatigued, memory loss, cognitive decline, weakness and light sensitivity, the list seriously goes on. All whilst caring for my beautiful 10 month old baby boy" - Courtney Amelia

"A Pseudotumor, which is detrimental to my health, my body, my brain, my wellbeing, my safety and for the people around me, especially my son.
His team has informed me it is in a very sensitive area and is what's causing all my horrible symptoms and needs to be surgically addressed. I meet with him in a weeks time.
Thankfully everything from my CT scans, MRI's, neurologist appointments, referral to my neurosurgeon had all happened so quickly. It is so difficult for me as this is something that is totally invisible to any other individual. My family can now tell when I am really bad. When I physically cannot have a conversation" - Courtney Amelia

Pineocytoma is one of several different types of tumors that arise in the area of the pineal gland. Pineal tumors typically present with hydrocephalus, a buildup of fluid pressure within the brain.

The surgical removal of pineal region tumors ranks among the most difficult neurosurgical operations. Charlie Teo specialises in these specific tumours, and is the only neurosurgeon in Australia that performs this surgery. Dr Charlie Teo works out of Prince of Whales private hospital in Sydney. The cost of this procedure is approximately 90k including travel expenses, recovery/rehabilitation and accommodation .

Courtney has always been an inspiration for others and now she needs your help.

We can not wait to have the Courtney we all know and love back .
