Coweta Radio Control Club Field Improvements
Coweta Radio Control Club, a AMA Charted Club , has been operating for over 15 years in Coweta County, Georgia.
In 2017 the land owner we leased our field from decided to sell the property, forcing our club to lose our flying field. After 18 months of searching, negotiating and planning we have finally located a new field! Coweta County has graciously allowed us to use the now decommissioned Coweta County Landfill, located near downtown Newnan.
The new field location is: 164 Essie Walker Rd, Newnan, GA 30263
Before we can begin to use the field, the GA EPD has requested the club perform the following site modifications:
* Establish road and parking areas consisting of 6.0 OSY geotextile fabric overlaid with 4” graded aggregate (asphalt millings).
* Install concrete slabs for the club shelters
* Install protection barriers to the landfill venting system
* (Optional) Install electricity for shelters
These modifications are needed to protect the integrity of the site and to ensure the safety for our members. We need to raise $20,000 for these modifications.
Here is a short video that shows our new field.
We are a fun-loving flying club open to all. We encourage local scouting, 4H groups and schools to work with us. Our passion is to spread the joy of RC flying to as many people as possible. Please help us build out our new field so that we can continue to keep RC flying alive in Coweta County!
