Creator's Arts Centre is moving!

(Kelowna, BC) Kelowna’s most innovative dance school, Creator’s Arts Centre, is preparing to move to a brand new location and launch several exclusive programs for their upcoming season.
The only non-profit dance school in the Okanagan, Creator’s Arts Centre has been operating at their current location for 14 years. The existing building is reaching the end of its lifespan and is in need of many repairs. It also doesn’t reflect the quality of dance instruction and programming that students and their families experience at the award-winning school.
Over the next six weeks, Creator’s Arts Centre aims to raise $50,000 which will be matched by an anonymous donor as construction on their new studio space begins. Funds raised will help cover construction costs, including the purchase and installation of specialty flooring that accounts for some $40,0000.
“We are creating a space that makes our students and teachers proud; A studio that reflects our values, including a commitment to the community and education.”
Lifts are an integral part of a male ballet dancer’s repertoire, and the new building’s high ceilings will allow Creator’s Arts Centre to launch ‘Boys in Ballet’, an all-male program taught by Kelowna’s only male ballet instructor, Chris Larsen.
A successful fundraising campaign will also allow the dance school to create a two-level ‘Dance for Diverse-abilities’ program, lead by key instructors at Creator’s Arts Centre that are professionally-trained in both dance and Occupational Therapy and Special Education. The program is tailored to children with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. Additionally, CAC has begun connecting with the Rehab Assistant diploma program at Okanagan College to see if a partnership can be created where their practicum students receive additional mentorship and training in working with children with special needs in an integrated environment.
“Creator’s Arts Centre fills a very real need in our community, and the quality of education that our students receive is second-to-none. We know that this fundraising campaign is ambitious, but that’s exactly the kind of example that we want to set for our students,”
Our History:
Creator's Arts Centre Website
Creator’s Arts Centre was founded in 1994 and today operates as a non-profit charitable society. CAC has established itself as a leader in the community, offering excellence and creativity in the arts and ballet classes lead by Royal Academy of Dance certified teachers. This commitment to excellence was acknowledged in 2013 with the Central Okanagan Foundation Arts Association Award for excellence in education and community outreach.
As the only non-profit charity dance school in the Okanagan, Creator’s Arts Centre is able to offer Tuition Assistance for low-income families, ensuring that the world of dance is accessible to all. Our dance education trains future generations to be creative, disciplined, motivated, compassionate, and intelligent members of our community; that learning opportunity should be extended to everyone, regardless of socio-economic background.
