Hello!
Our names are Curtis and Abbey Roth. Starting August 26, 2015, we will be attending Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota, for Bachelor of Arts Ministry Degrees. We are requesting your financial assistance in funding our ministry education. Abbey will be majoring in Worship and Music Arts. Curtis will major in International Studies with a focus on Cross-cultural Ministry. With these degrees, and the knowledge/experience gained by pursuing them, we will be combining our shared passion for worship through music, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ’s salvation, wherever God leads us. We are pursuing degrees in these fields so we have a collegiate-level foundation of Biblical knowledge to draw from, and specific training to equip us to serve and lead others – all for the glory of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Ephesians 3:20-21).
On May 2, 2015 we got married and have been prayerfully considering this education process for over a year. God has been absolutely incredible with His guidance and encouragement along the way. He has been training us as a couple: leading a small group of high school youth group students during the 2014-15 school year, and leading worship on Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, and youth retreats…all with Valley Christian Church (VCC) in Lakeville, Minnesota. The encouragement and love we have been receiving from The Church (including a $1300 scholarship for each of us from VCC) has been a powerful blessing.
Why school? Why now? Put simply, because God prompted us. We have not gone into this lightly and will not go about it lightly. We have asked God about each and every decision along the way and have been blessed with a strong sense of the Spirit’s leading to where we are today.
Finances have been a possible worry as we step out on this limb, but God has shut that worry down every time (Matthew 6:25-34). Each step we take towards this calling, God carries us two more steps. Through other financial aid (scholarships, grants, and government loans) our tuition, books, and miscellaneous fees are covered! However, we are going into this with minimal savings, a large work-load, and high monthly expenses.
We ask for your financial assistance to cover rent, utilities, groceries, transportation, and outstanding bills that we cannot cover with our limited income.
Faith Village is comprised of Crown College’s apartment-style accommodations available to married couples. They are leased for 12-month periods. Your financial contribution will be helping us pay rent and utilities so we can stay on campus while we work and study in the area. You will also be contributing to our grocery fund, as we will be on our own for food.
Another large portion of your financial gifts will be going toward our transportation as we will both be working as much as possible while attending. Abbey is working as a barista at Starbucks in Chanhassen (about 20 minutes from campus). Curtis is working as a Personal Care Attendant doing in-home respite care for individuals with disabilities. He may also have an opportunity to serve at a local church for a small monthly stipend (We will update as that progresses).
The monetary goal listed above is the estimated total we will need (in addition to income from our current jobs) for our freshman year at Crown, beginning August 26th. We are fully willing to go to the bank and attempt to take out additional student loans, however, we believe it would be irresponsible to do that without coming to you first. With your monetary gifts you will be funding the ministry education of two servants, following a call from God to lead others to Him (Matthew 28:18-20).
Thank you for your consideration!
