ADDITIONAL CAMPAIGN INFORMATION
This GoFundMe campaign was established by Marcia Benfica, a native of Mozambique who now resides in North Potomac, Maryland with her husband, Dr. Rui Benfica and her two teenage children. The campaign’s goal is to provide much needed support to the victims of Cyclone Idai in the Sofala province of Mozambique and is supported by the Mozambique diaspora in the United States.
As a native of Mozambique and someone with in-depth knowledge and contacts in the Sofala province, contact has been made with both local rural hospitals and schools who require financial support to rebuild structures that were destroyed by Cyclone Idai. Building materials to rebuild destroyed structures will be provided to rural hospitals and schools.
Marcia Benfica along with other Mozambicans residing in the USA will travel to the Sofala province in the coming weeks to personally oversee the distribution of building materials. All members traveling to Sofala province have personally committed to using their own funds for travel and commit to 100% of all donated funds to be distributed to local rural hospitals and schools for rebuilding of institutional structures. Once on the ground, pictures will be updated to this campaign for real time monitoring of the implementation of the donations raised. We again take this opportunity to thank everyone for their generous donations and vow to be responsible stewards of your donations.
