Send Silence Packing at the U
Donation protected
Active Minds at the University of Miami is a club working to raise awareness for mental health issues on our campus. Over the summer, our club applied and was chosen to host the Send Silence Packing display to be held on October 9, 2014. Send Silence Packing brings 1100 backpacks, one for every college student who commits suicide in a year, along with personal stories and photos to create an incredibly moving message about suicide and its prevalence among students.
At Active Minds, we hope this display helps destroy some of the stigma surrounding getting help for mental health issues however, we need help financing the display. The cost of the display is $5000, but we are also hoping to make a $1000 donation to the Active Minds headquarters to aid them in their fight against the stigma of mental health. Any money we raise in excess of our goal will also be donated to Active Minds.
At our display, we will also have materials about available resources as well as other mental health organizations to further raise awareness.
