Dan Clements is in need of our assistance after a terrible accident in Costa Rica.
We all know Dan "Big Blue" Clements as the man that adores his children, family, friends, and donates countless hours to charity and assisting those in need through the Elks Lodge and his church, First Presbyterian. He is selfless, always cheerful and would give the shirt off his back. As many of you know, Dan and his best friend, Mike Dineen, took a much deserved trip to Costa Rica for some relaxation. Dan and Mike have been such close friends over the decades that they consider eachother brothers. What was supposed to be a one week vacation in paradise has been anything but.
While touring the sights on scooters, a tour bus crossed into his lane, throwing Dan into a ditch and causing extensive injuries. He sustained a broken collar bone, numerous broken ribs, and a subarachnoid hemorrhage. The most serious result of the accident has been the seizure episodes that Dan has been experiencing multiple times per day. The seizures have made it unsafe to travel back to the U.S. for medical care.
Unfortunately his U.S. insurance is not accepted in Costa Rica. In order to receive medical attention, payment is required up front, and without assistance from insurance, the fees are astronomical. As a result Dan has incurred many thousands of dollars in unexpected medical, lodging, and travel fees. Mike has been a dedicated nurse for over 40 years and has been up tirelessly working to give Dan the best care possible.
Doctors are working to stabilize his seizures in order to clear him to fly, but in the meantime we want to assist Dan with the costs of his medical care their transportation back to the U.S. Many people have inquired about what they can do to help out and any donation will help offset these shocking unforeseen expenses.
