DEFEND THE DARIGOLD DOZEN
Donation protected
After believing that they were being denied their legally mandated workers’ rights, 12 courageous farmworkers working at Ruby Ridge Dairy, a member of Darigold, made their concerns known and filed a lawsuit to protect their rights. Instead of doing the right thing and resolving their claims, Ruby Ridge fired and countersued these impoverished workers in an attempt to keep them silent. These 12 courageous workers are the Darigold Dozen.
With many other farmworkers currently engaged in or considering lawsuits against employers with hazardous and illegal working conditions, dairies and workers across the state are watching to see if this intimidation tactic is successful. In fact, what is happening at Ruby Ridge is not unique— other workers have also sued Darigold member dairies over violation of their rights.
The Darigold Dozen have refused to withdraw in the face of corporate pressure, and we join them by fasting in solidarity. Together we can send a message that worker exploitation is unacceptable, put an end to abusive practices accepted by Darigold, and create a truly dignified industry where all can work with safety and respect.
HOW THE FUNDS WILL BE USED
Funds hotels, food, travel, and legal expenses for the Darigold Dozen. Help us raise money to get the Darigold Dozen to Seattle to participate in a peaceful protest outside Darigold Headquarters.
$8,000 for travel for the Darigold Dozen and their families.
$50,0000 to contribute a fraction towards their legal expenses.
