Dave's Accident Recovery
Donation protected
March 19, 2014 Dave got in a horrible roll over accident in Albert Lea, MN. The truck hit a ice patch at highway speed spinning the truck into a guard rail, peeling the drivers door open, flipping the truck. On impact the driver's seat and his head went through the rear window. Dave was partially ejected from his pickup truck.
His injuries are fractured discs in neck, dislocated neck, degloving of his scalp, incomplete spinal cord injury. He received 19 pints of blood due to the loss of blood from his scalp injury. He was given CPR three times due to pulse and blood loss. He spent 3 months in Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN in Intensive Care for the first 10 days then on to the Rehabilitation Center until June 21st. During his stay there he had surgery to his spine to fuse the fractured C5 and C6 in his neck, suture and debride his scalp. I am happy to report he has no brain injury considering his head injuries he substained. He is now at home trying to recover as much as he possibly can... he has Physical Therapy 4 days a week and Occupational Therapy 3 days a week. He is working very hard to be as mobile as he possibly can but he will always have his disabilities. He will always need the transportation of a wheelchair. He has come a long way in 9 months but he has a long way to go. I would like to raise money to take some the worries of living expenses off his mind, so he can keep working at recovering to his full capacity.
