David Gove Memorial Fund

Many of you may know me from different times in Dave's life. From watching his high school hockey at Thayer Academy, to Western Michigan, his first pro stop in Orlando, to San Antonio, Utah, Lowell and every summer on the Cape. His family knows me as his "brother". I am Chris Ferreira, his best friend. Dave and I knew each other since we were 6 years old and we talked almost everyday of our lives right up until the day before he passed away. Dave was the best man at my wedding.  He was the guy everyone loved to those who met him. Dave was the most genuine, kind and loving person you could ever be around as many of you have shared on social media.  Dave had something so special that just drew you to him. I have enough memories with Dave to fill two lifetimes. His family and I are absolutely devastated by his passing.   His addiction took him from us way to soon.  

I'm sharing this story today because left behind in this tragedy is Dave's 3 year old son Cullen.  It is so hard for me to know that he will never grow up with his father.  I feel it is my duty to keep fighting for Dave and his son because I know Dave would want me to do that.   The money we receive from this will go towards specifically transporting Dave's remains from Pittsburgh back to his family and home in Cape Cod.  Second and most important I will set up a Trust in his son Cullen's name that will be used for his college tuition.  If this GoFundMe exceeds our expectations we would also like to make a donation in Dave's name to an addiction cause to be decided later.  I thank all of you in advance for your donation. I am so grateful that something like GoFundMe exists so that we continue to honor Dave's memory and support his son's future.
