Dawn's Journey - CKD Medical Fund

Donation protected
Dawn Smith is a kind and amazing woman who has selflessly cared for others in her role as a home health CNA.  It takes a special type of person to be a CNA – to provide the most basic and essential care; to be that smiling face for those in need.  It is truly an underappreciated role that Dawn does with gentle pride.

Those who have had the opportunity to get to know her will tell you she has a heart of gold.  She has visited and provided medical care to the lonely and at their request sat by their bed side – gently holding their hand as they peacefully passed away.  She is a true angel.

Now Dawn needs our help. Dawn was diagnosed with advanced Kidney Disease in May of 2012.  Since that time her health continues to decline.  Despite her sickness, Dawn continues to work full time helping others - which is becoming increasingly difficult.

This beautiful soul – who has spent her life caring for others, is beginning to get very discouraged due to the reality that her medical bills have impacted her family’s ability to stay current with their basic expenses – mortgage, utilities, transportation and food.

Unfortunately Dawn is at the beginning of a larger medical struggle - as the disease progresses she will eventually need either dialysis or a kidney transplant.  She is currently $40,000 in debt and is struggling with seeing a way out of a situation that was brought upon by her by the “bad luck” of being struck with a chronic and often-times fatal disease.

A lot of people have asked how they can help. So given the severity of the situation, we decided to create a GoFundMe campaign to help raise money to help fund medical expenses  for pre dialysis, dialysis, transplant and post transplant care, travel to and from  clinic/hospital visits, therapy bills and lost wages.

If you are looking for a way to show support for a gentle, kind soul, please consider making a donation to this campaign. Any amount would help to relieve the financial burden of the long road ahead of them.  If you are not in the position to help financially, could you please keep Dawn in your prayers and pass this link along on your facebook timeline.  Someone you know may be able to help and it may increase the awareness of the physical and emotional impact chronic illnesses like kidney disease have on those around us.

Dawn and her family are so incredibly grateful for anything you are able to contribute.  Please keep them in your prayers.  Bless you
